Hospital in Olympic city Sochi is equipped with Merivaara furniture

The totally renovated Krasnaya Polyana Municipal Hospital no 8 in Sochi, Russia, chose Finnish company Merivaara to supply most of its new furnishing equipment. The hospital originates from a small infirmary, established more than 100 years ago, and over time it has turned into a medical centre with several medical branches, including therapy, surgery, and neurology. Today, the spectrum of care and equipment of the health facility is at such a high level that it will serve the participants and guests of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi.

The Hospital №8 is a versatile medical centre that includes not only in-patient departments, but also an outpatient department with a 12-bed day surgery clinic. Additionally, the hospital has its own clinical diagnostic laboratory. The hospital performs a lot of open surgery, laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery and diagnostic laparoscopy for final verification of the diagnosis in difficult cases.

Merivaara actively participated in the refurbishing project. Operating theatres were equipped with multipurpose operating tables and surgical lights, the gynaecological department and patient rooms with examination tables and lights.

The location and climate of Sochi provides a good environment for rehabilitation, which is an important part of the clinic’s medical care. The one- and two-bed patient wards were designed to help patients feel comfortable, thus speeding up the recovery process.

"Could you imagine a more favourable place to recover from illness than a resort with mountain climate yet near the sea shore? With rich natural sources of the region and the achievements of modern medicine, our experts have developed a comprehensive program for the treatment of patients with diseases related to the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and/or nervous system, as well as those recovering from injuries and surgery", says Chief Doctor Vartazaryan Marina Avgustovna.

Now the medical centre is ready to receive - in addition to inhabitants of the region - both athletes and other guests of the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014.
